Tim Jones (Grit Visual) and I were hired by Salt Lake Visitors Bureau to film behind the scenes videos for this years Ski City Shootout. The shootout is a photography competition that pits 8 professional photographers, each with three professional skiers, against one another in a four resort, four day image making party on the mountain. Each photographer chooses one of their own athletes to bring to Salt Lake City with them and drafts the other two at the opening night social. These teams get one day at each of the four Salt Lake City ski resorts (Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude) to capture the best images they possibly can. Working together they must find the best light, the best snow, and put everything into motion at just the right time to capture the most inspiring and beautiful images out there. We were imbedded with one team each day for a few hours in the morning to capture a small glimpse into what it takes to be the best. The judges panel is headed up by Powder Magazines photo editor Mr. David Reddick. These videos were then presented on the big screen at Breweries Cinema and Pub in Salt Lake City at the end of the competition. These videos were filmed and edited each day, making for incredibly long days and one hell of a week! Stoked to be done and stoked on how they turned out!
