“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.” -American Hiking Society. Today’s path was up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Clayton Peak via Bloods Lake and back around for Lackawaxen Lake, Silver Lake Islet, Lake Brimhall, and Silver Lake. I saw two young male moose at Silver Lake Islet, found a salamander sliding into a hole in the dirt in the forest, and saw two beautiful red-tailed hawks circling in the sky above Lackawaxen Lake. Clayton Peak overlooks Brighton Ski Area on the south and down onto Lackawaxen Lake to the north. I was hiking in and around private property, I think owned by the Girl Scouts of America. There were trails for about 35% of what I hiked. I linked up two HUGE boulder fields between Clayton Peak and Silver Lake Islet and tromped through the woods a little too. Overall a beautiful few hours in the Wasatch Mountains.
